Emily and Lane chose the perfect, hill country setting to tie the knot – Rancho Buena Vida in Dripping Springs, Texas. Their May wedding was full of thoughtful details, surprises for the guests, heartfelt moments, a beautiful sunset dinner overlooking the canyon, and ended with everyone jumping in the pool to cool off on the warm summer night.
The day started with hair and makeup for the girls and chatting around the bar-b-que pit for the boys. This intimate venue allowed for a very relaxed, slow morning and separate overnight accommodations for both the boys and girls. It truly felt like they were getting married at a family property which made the vibe for the whole day very cozy and comfortable. If you know Emily, you know how extremely thoughtful she is, so of course she had sweetest gifts for her mom and Lane. After sharing a first look on the hill side, it was time to walk down the aisle.
The ceremony took place in the shade of a beautiful oak tree, with the rolling hill country and a homemade wooden arbor as the perfect backdrop. Emily walked down the aisle with both her mother and father, Lane’s smile was beaming, and Emily’s grandfather served as the officiant. After their first steps of husband and wife, we moved into family photos and wedding party photos. Then we gathered all the guests together for a group photo with confetti cannons, little did they know, the confetti color revealed the gender of the bride and groom’s expected new little one. It took most of the guests a few seconds to realize that the confetti was pink for a reason, but once they did, the happy tears, hugs, and “congratulations” continued for quite some time. It was truly magical to witness such a surprise and the pure joy on everyone’s faces. It’s moments like these that make being a wedding and family photographer so magical.
Dinner was served at sunset under the twinkle lights, with the wedding party seated at a long, wooden farmhouse table. We continued with toasts, first dances, the cake cutting, most of the wedding party jumping in the pool, and a sparkler exit. The party continued throughout the night with family and friends staying on the property and enjoying each other’s company. It’s so obvious how much Emily and Lane love each other and celebrating these newlyweds was so easy!
